For the last three years (our entire marriage!), we’ve lived across the country from our families, so we usually don’t get much time in our own space around the holidays. This year, we’ll be able to enjoy the whole month of December in our own place, now that we are almost done moving in. It’s also extra fun to be able to decorate our outdoor space a bit as well, since it’s still warm enough to enjoy our garden here in California! 

Right now, we’re still finishing moving in, so we’re light on Christmas decorations in general, which is why I was so excited to receive this bouquet (it’s called Desert Holiday!) from The Bouqs Co! It’s so festive and gorgeous and has already lasted TWO weeks. I have NEVER had flowers last that long! We got our Christmas tree from a local farm and didn’t realize it’s the biggest tree we’ve ever had until we got home and tried putting our lights and ornaments on. We’ll definitely need to add some more to the sides! But I love how it came together. Eventually, I’d love to be the crazy person with several trees and hundreds of ornaments that we’ve collected over the years! 

I love taking the time to remember where and when we got each one as we decorate the tree. Some we got for our New Year’s Eve wedding, some we got while we lived across the country, and I even kept some I received from my students back when I was a teacher. They all have a fun story, and we love reminiscing on those moments while listening to Christmas music!

Having fresh decor is my favorite part of Christmas – I’m not sure I’ll ever get a fake tree. So the fresh flowers fit right in! Over the next few weeks, I hope to add some fresh garland, a wreath, and more ornaments.
