If it wasn’t already obvious, I love vintage. For me, the best part about vintage is the hunt for the perfect piece, the art of the chase. However, that certainly is NOT the best part when you can’t find what you want!
I was searching for a vintage black crossbody bag when I discovered Beara Beara.
They have an incredible assortment of pieces. I’d been hoping to thrift a perfectly distressed version of the exact bag I fell in love with on their site, the Manju.

It’s exactly the right size for a night out
Tote bags are great for the work day… But as a Mari Kondo fan, I’m ashamed to say that I don’t empty my bag when I get home! I love having a small bag to grab for a weekend coffee run or night out with Aaron. I can toss in my phone, ID, favorite lipstick, and I’m ready! The Manju has been perfect for all of that and more. It comes with two straps – one leather and one gold chain – but I can’t imagine not using the chain! It’s stunning.

Beara Beara bags are handcrafted in Bolivia, and you can read more about the story behind the brand here. Jake Bullough started Beara Beara when he discovered the history of leather-working in Bolivia. He realized he could expand the reach and therefore improve the livelihood of these makers.
I appreciate when a company details their manufacturing processes, and you can learn about their craftsmanship here.
A few details that stuck out to me:
It takes fifteen people to make a single bag. And women are encouraged to work part-time if they need to take care of their families.
As a former teacher, I was excited to see that they plan to start an after school program for children this year. I know firsthand how difficult it can be for working parents to balance their many responsibilities during the hours of 3-5! Workers can clock in and out around their other life commitments.
