In my humble opinion, Red-Era Taylor Swift style was her most iconic look of all.
I remember admiring her style during the Red-era and thinking… this is exactly how I want to dress. It was like she was wearing her emotions through her clothing, and I loved the theatrics of it all!
Maybe Taylor Swift didn’t win a Grammy for Red, but she did get me through a horrific break-up that had me scream-singing We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together with my friends in my dorm room for hours on end. And yes, maybe my ex lived in the room above us and could definitely hear us every single time, but isn’t that the most Taylor Swift thing you’ve ever heard?!
It was a little of everything I loved: a little vintage, a little French, a little tomboy. And a LOT high-waisted, which was really my first introduction to the wonder that is high-waisted jeans.
All that to say, when Tradlands reached out to see if I wanted to try a few pieces from their new spring collection, my wheels started turning.
The first piece that stood out was this Box T-Shirt in Stripe. And that’s what triggered this whole idea!
I love how the stripes on the sleeves are slightly thinner than the rest of the shirt. It’s such a quirky and fun detail and makes this piece so unique. I’m wearing a small here, but I’m thinking about sizing up. I think this shirt would be a bit more versatile if it was oversized (especially for the summer!).
I paired it here with my Madewell Heart Bandana, Madewell Perfect Vintage Jeans (Size 27), and Everlane V-Slingbacks in Rust (TTS).
This next look features the Box Top, made from salt tencel linen, and it’s one of my absolute favorite fabrics!
I like how the linen keeps it light-weight, but the tencel adds some softness and structure.
I have SO many ideas for styling this top. It works fully buttoned, half-buttoned, or unbuttoned with a crop underneath!
The style of the sleeves adds a layer of elegance that will keep me reaching for this top all year long. It’s beautiful in photos but even more stunning in person! It comes in some absolutely gorgeous colors, but I wanted something simple and basic. I used to have a shirt like this that I loved, but it got destroyed in the wash. I’ll be taking very good care of this one!
I paired it here with my Nisolo Mariella Mules in Sand, my Anthropologie Beret (currently on sale in all colors!), and a vintage skirt. Find my skirt picks this season HERE.
This second outfit reminds me so much of the Begin Again music video. My expression is very I Knew You Were Trouble. What do you think?!
And last, but certainly not least, this Black Martine Tencel Top!
I have spent too much of my money and time on TERRIBLE versions of this shirt. This style is usually so unflattering on me, but the tencel lays so much better than the classic cotton button-up. And the sleeves actually stay rolled up how I want them to.
For this very moody We-Are-Never-Ever-Getting-Back-Together look, I brought back my Madewell Heart Bandana and threw on my beloved Frye Oxfords which are sadly out of stock. But I love the Juliette Oxford and Frances Oxford from Madewell if you’re looking for a pair.
I’ve had these Levi’s 501 Cutoff Shorts forever, and mine are a bit worn. But I still always reach for them because I love the fit!
If you’re craving more of the RED era, I made a Pinterest board that I think you’ll love.
Okay, now let the debate begin. What is the best song on RED?! Is Red-Era Taylor Swift style her best of all? Share your thoughts in the comments!
If I wasn’t already convinced I needed the white box top, this post convinced me. Favorite song off of red is so impossible… Begin Again is special to me, but there’s also All Too Well, Stay Stay Stay, and State of Grace (acoustic obviously).
It is SO SO SO beautiful! Gosh, the acoustic versions are so slept on!!!!
