Weekend Trip To Phoenix

Our recent weekend trip to Phoenix was much needed!

Most of the time when I travel, I’m exhausted by the time I get home, but I think that’s because over the past few years, I have primarily traveled for work or to visit friends and family. Because of where we live, our flights are long and we always have a layover. It felt great to check-in to our hotel after a long travel day and realize that all we had to do was relax!

So, relax we did. We unplugged, read, napped, ate amazing food (including In N Out of course), and laid by the pool. We stayed at the Arizona Biltmore, which was lovely and has such an interesting history. Our balcony room overlooked the gardens, and we loved eating our breakfast and playing cards out there. The trip was for my work, so it was nice to visit with my coworkers as well! Working remotely has its perks, but I do miss being with people throughout the day.

Being back on the west coast felt better than I thought it would.

We have loved living in Kentucky for the last year and a half, but it felt amazing to be in a place that seemed so familiar, even though I’d never been there before! The palm trees, dry heat, and constant sunshine reminded Aaron and me of California. It had us dreaming about what it would be like to live out there. (I especially missed the way my hair dries with the dry heat. Absolutely no frizz or maintenance!) It wasn’t until we got to Phoenix that we both realized how stir-crazy we felt all of April!

Weekend Trip To Phoenix

Our first year in Kentucky, we traveled nonstop. Between weddings, work, and family, I was in California almost every month. After our three week trip in December, we decided to go as long as possible without traveling west. I’m so glad we did that because it helped us figure out where we want to be in the future and what works for us!

We didn’t do much shopping or sightseeing on this trip, but I have a feeling we will be back sooner than we think to do more exploring! A weekend trip to Phoenix was fun but not enough!

Where do you live and do you plan on staying there long-term!? Let me know in the comments!

(And if you’d like to know what I packed and ended up wearing, check out this blog post!)

I currently live in Minnesota, but I’ve lived in Michigan, Illinois, Florida, Colorado, and a few places in Europe! I’ve learned that every place has pros and cons. Ideally, you just have to find a place where the pros outweigh the cons and you feel happy and at peace!
